Kawasaki Recalls Ninja ZX-10R & ZX-6R to Fix Defective Gearbox

Kawasaki Recalls Ninja ZX Sport Bikes: Kawasaki USA has issued a recall on ZX-10R and ZX-6R manufactured between 2016 and 2018. They have detected a potential gearbox failure under second, third and fourth gear. NHTSA has reported that almost 4000 bikes are affected by this problem. Sudden impact load can break the transmission parts and thus, rear wheel lockup can result in a high speed crash on both these bikes. Strength of materials used in the gears is said to be lower than that required to handle hard downshifting on ZX-10R and ZX-6R. They will replace the affected parts free of cost as this will be resolved under the warranty. Both these bikes may also get included into the recall list in coming days. Kawasaki ZX-6R is not sold here and thus, only those who have personally imported the machine would need to take some extra care of the matter. Most buyers will get a call from the service center but you can directly contact them as a prevention measure. Hard downshifting will not occur in everyday road conditions but chances of breakdown increases on track for sure. Kawasaki range starts from INR 3.09 lakh in India while top spec Ninja H2R from Kawasaki costs INR 69.8 lakh.
