Comparing Growth Potential

Parth Jindal, a member of the steering committee of JSW MG Motor India, compared the growth potential of the Indian automotive market to that of China. He highlighted that while China sold 25 million passenger vehicles in 2023, with 32 percent being NEVs, India only sold around 80,000 EVs in the same year. This comparison indicates the untapped potential for EV adoption in India.

Optimism for the Future

Despite the current challenges, Parth Jindal expressed optimism about India's potential to transition to a 10 million passenger vehicle market over the next decade with strong government support for electric vehicles. He believes that India will follow a similar adoption path as China in embracing electric vehicles driving significant growth in the NEV segment.

Expansion of Production Capacity

To meet the growing demand for their vehicles, MG Motor India MD Rajeev Chaba announced plans to increase production capacity from the current 1 lakh to 3 lakh units annually. This expansion reflects the group's commitment to scaling up operations and meeting the increasing demand for EVs and PHEVs in India.
