Is this the 2017 Bajaj Chetak Automatic Scooter?

Bajaj Chetak is undoubtedly the best thing a person in his 40's will remember from his teenage days. Not just that, it revolutionized the personal mode of transport by providing a reliable and comfortable companion on the Indian roads. Gaadiwaadi recently leaked an image that claims to be the 2017 Bajaj Chetak, pointing directly at something which is quite modern and carries an effective design for the coming year. The success and popularity of the Chetak brand name won't let this potential product fail in the current market where every manufacturer has one of more offerings in the scooter segment. Although Bajaj has been busy updating its long list of products, the scooter market has been growing at a faster pace than ever. Honda Activa sold more than 3 lakh units last month, making it clear that people are moving towards an easily drivable option to counter the increasing traffic in major cities. Even some high spec scooters like Aprilia SR150 and Vespa VXL 150 have entered India with the hope to provide riders with multiple power and design options in the recent times. It's the best time when Bajaj Auto can bring back the Chetak and make a big difference in the current market scene. 0_468_700_http-cdni-autocarindia-com-extraimages-20161123092639_bajaj-chetak-2017-launch-photos-2-696x511

Is this the 2017 Bajaj Chetak Automatic Scooter?

The scooter seen in the image represents a modern day machine with automatic gearbox, comfortable single piece seat, impressive front fascia and a retro appeal on the rear half body section. It is shown here with a nice design of alloy wheels while Bajaj is expected to use drum brakes and miss telescopic suspension on the upcoming Chetak. If everything stays the same, Bajaj could even introduce a great alternate to Vespa that could lie within the price range of other scooters. The engine capacity could be anything between 125-150 cc. Keeping things in sync with the current generation of scooter engines, the Chetak will get a single cylinder, air cooled and carburetor fed engine with company's patented DTS-i technology. It won't be right to comment on the actual launch date of the scooter at this moment but it can be said for sure that if this thing arrives, other brands definitely need to worry about their share in the Indian scooter market.
