Introducing the Rs 209 Crore Rolls-Royce Arcadia Drop Tail

Rolls-Royce has once again set the benchmark for luxury and exclusivity with the unveiling of its latest coachbuilt roadster, the Arcadia Drop Tail. Priced at approximately Rs 209 crore, this magnificent vehicle is the third example in a limited production run of four, following the Amethyst and La Rose Noire cars revealed last year.

Unmatched Craftsmanship: The Art of Woodworking

One of the most striking features of the Arcadia Drop Tail is the intricate woodwork that adorns its interior. Rolls-Royce has revealed that the woodwork alone took over 8,000 hours to complete showcasing the brand's commitment to unparalleled craftsmanship. The car's interior is adorned with Santos Straight Grain rosewood selected for its rich texture and tight grain. However, this choice of timber presented significant engineering challenges as it is prone to tearing when machined and cracking while drying.

To overcome these challenges a bespoke lacquer was developed to protect the wood in tropical climates ensuring its longevity. This innovative solution required extensive research and development highlighting Rolls-Royce's dedication to maintaining the highest standards of quality.

Design Inspired by Architecture and Classic Cars

The design of the Arcadia Drop Tail is inspired by the architecture and classic cars favored by its commissioner, with influences from regions such as Indonesia, Singapore, and Vietnam. The car's exterior is painted white with the inclusion of aluminium and glass particles to create a unique effect that invites further inspection. Unlike the other Droptails, the lower section of the Arcadia's carbon fibre tub is painted in silver, adding to its distinctive appearance.

Performance Meets Elegance

Under the hood, the Arcadia Drop Tail is powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.75-litre V12 engine, which has been fine-tuned to produce an additional 30hp, resulting in total outputs of 601hp and 841Nm. This powerful engine ensures that the roadster is not only a marvel of design and craftsmanship but also a formidable performer on the road.

A Timepiece of Complexity

Adding to the car's luxurious interior is a clock of Rolls-Royce's own design, described as the most complex part the company has ever developed. The creation of this clock required two years of research and five months of assembly further emphasizing the meticulous attention to detail that goes into every aspect of a Rolls-Royce vehicle.
