Hyundai Unveils Unmanned Stealth Tank Concept

Hyundai, a well-known car manufacturer, is part of the broader Hyundai Motor Group which includes various specialized companies. One of its affiliates, Hyundai Rotem, recently revealed an innovative tank featuring stealth technology.

Hyundai Rotem is a heavy industrial business that specializes in the production of trains, products for production lines, tanks, armored vehicles, and unmanned weapon systems. Their latest creation, the next-generation Main Battle Tank, was unveiled at the Seoul International Aerospace & Design Exhibition, and it breaks away from the traditional tank design.

The soft cream and light grey versions of this tank have an angular design that sets it apart. What sets it apart is the honeycomb pattern covering much of its body including the turret and this design is intended to minimize radar detection. Adding to its uniqueness the tank is fully unmanned with its turret controlled remotely by an operator and it is also equipped with an active protection system to defend against anti-tank weapons. The tank collaborates with a multi-functional drone for reconnaissance operations as well.

An official from Hyundai Rotem emphasized, "The latest design, which takes advantage of stealth technology, was created in concert with Hyundai Motor and highlights the future of ground vehicles." However, full production details are yet to be determined, as the vehicle is currently in the concept stage and the company is also assessing the demand for this advanced tank from various governments.

Hyundai Rotem has been increasing its footprint in the defense industry. Last year, it signed a deal with Poland to supply 180 K2PL tanks. Deliveries of these tanks began in late 2022 and are expected to continue until 2025 and this move signifies Hyundai Rotem's growing influence in the defense industry.
