Hyundai Ioniq 5 XRT: A New Off-Road Variant in the Works

Hyundai is gearing up to introduce an off-road capable version of the Ioniq 5 expanding its XRT range that includes rugged versions of Hyundai's SUVs. The Ioniq 5 XRT has been spotted testing with new wheels, updated bumpers, roof rails, black plastic body cladding, and black-colored 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 30-inch all-terrain tires. It also boasts 38mm of extra ground clearance compared to the standard Ioniq 5.

Design and Features

Despite being camouflaged the prototype showcases noticeable changes that enhance its off-road capabilities. Expect more rugged-looking bumpers, XRT badging, and a new interior theme. The Ioniq 5 XRT is likely to offer a stylish yet practical design suitable for adventurous driving.

Powertrain and Range

The Ioniq 5 XRT is expected to feature a dual-motor powertrain with all-wheel drive, similar to the regular Ioniq 5 AWD model that delivers 325hp and 604Nm of peak torque. It could be equipped with a 77.4kWh battery pack, offering a range of about 418km. Alternatively, Hyundai might offer the Korean-spec Ioniq 5 facelift's larger 84kWh battery for extended range.

Launch Timeline

Reports suggest that Hyundai could debut the Ioniq 5 XRT by the end of this year as a 2025 model year. The special version is expected to launch in the United States first, followed by a launch in Europe. Unfortunately, the Ioniq 5 XRT is unlikely to be available in the Indian market, similar to the Ioniq 5 N and Ioniq 5 N Line editions.

Hyundai has demonstrated its commitment to provide a wide selection of electric vehicles to accommodate various consumer preferences with the launch of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 XRT. The attractive design and off-road capabilities of the Ioniq 5 XRT will appeal to adventure seekers seeking an electric car that can navigate difficult terrain with ease.
