Honda is set to bring back the Transalp to India with the launch of the XL750 Transalp adventure bike. For those who love adventure motorcycles in the nation, this announcement of the resuscitation of the Transalp brand is very thrilling.
Impressive Power and Performance
The Honda Transalp 750 is equipped with a brand-new 755cc parallel-twin engine that delivers a robust 92hp at 9,500rpm and a torque of 75Nm at 7,250rpm. It's worth noting that Honda often tunes its big bikes in India to slightly lower power levels compared to their international counterparts, but we'll have to wait and see if this applies to the Transalp as well.
Engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox that features a slip-and-assist clutch and a bi-directional quick-shifter. The heart of the Transalp is a 270-degree parallel-twin engine nestled within a sturdy diamond steel frame. Suspension duties are handled by Showa components, including a USD fork and a mono-shock with preload adjustability.
Lightweight and Agile
One of the standout features of the Transalp is its relatively light kerb weight of 208kg. This places it among the lightest large-capacity adventure bikes available in India. The motorcycle rides on tubed wire-spoke rims with a front size of 90/90-21 and a rear size of 150/70-R18. The seat height is 850mm, but Honda offers a lower seat option, bringing it down to a more accessible 820mm. This low-seat option has been popular in India, especially with models like the Africa Twin, and it's likely to find favor with Transalp buyers as well.
Advanced Electronics and Rider Aids
The Transalp 750 boasts an impressive array of electronic rider aids which makes it a technologically advanced adventure bike. These include five riding modes (four preset and one customizable), four-engine power modes, five levels of traction control, three levels of engine braking, and two levels of ABS. Riders have the option to disable traction control and rear ABS if they prefer a more manual riding experience.
Competitive Pricing
The expected price range for the Honda Transalp in India is between Rs 10.50 lakh and 11.50 lakh (ex-showroom). While this positions it in the same price range as prominent rivals like the Triumph Tiger 850 Sport and the BMW F 850 GS, the Transalp offers comparable power figures and is lighter than both competitors. It's worth noting that Transalp's pricing is on the higher side compared to its international pricing due to its import via the CBU (Completely Built-Up) route.
