Honda City Gets 4-Star Safety Rating in GNCAP Crash Test

Global NCAP has been testing India-spec cars as part of its # SaferCarsForIndia campaign for quite some time. And most recently, it tested the fourth-generation Honda City, which received a four-star safety rating. The car achieved a four-star safety rating for adult occupant protection. The Honda City scored 12.03 points out of a possible 17 in adult occupant safety, while the child occupant protection score was 38.27 points out of a possible 49.

The test was performed on a sedan having two frontal airbags, which have been mandatory in the country for the past few years, as well as ISOFIX Anchorages and ABS (4 Channel). The car was tested at a speed of 64 km/h. During the assessment, both the driver’s and passenger’s frontal airbags deployed properly, and the dummy’s body received very little damage.

However, the bodyshell integrity was rated as unstable, but the head and neck protection provided to the driver and passenger was good. The ISOFIX anchorages and the rearward-facing location of one of the child dummies provided good child occupant safety. This model comes equipped with a lap belt in the back centre seat, but no ESC or side head impacts protection.
