Honda Africa Twin: Updated Design Patented in India

Honda has shown that it is actively focused on the growing Indian motorcycle market by attempting to patent the design of the updated Africa Twin series in India. Honda intends to bring these highly awaited models to Indian riders as shown by this detailed patent that covers both the normal Africa Twin and the Adventure Sports version.

Design Updates

The Adventure Sports variant of the Africa Twin receives notable design enhancements including a more road-biased 19-inch front wheel aimed at bolstering its on-road performance. In addition, new designs are made to the side panels and front fascia giving the bike a modern and new look.

Engine Enhancements

A key upgrade to the 2024 Africa Twin lies in the engine's compression ratio, which sees a slight increase. This adjustment results in a higher peak torque output of 112Nm at 5,500rpm, compared to the current model's 103Nm at 6,250rpm. These improvements aim to improve the overall performance and ride quality of the bike.

Seat Height Adjustment

While the European model boasts an adjustable seat height ranging between 835mm and 855mm, it remains uncertain if this feature will be offered in the Indian version. Nevertheless, the Africa Twin in India comes equipped with a lowered suspension setting, resulting in a more manageable 810mm to 830mm seat height, serving the preferences of Indian riders.

Patenting Strategy

It is probably a calculated move to protect its creative works that Honda chose to patent the base model's design in India even though there are no immediate plans to introduce it there. This complies with Honda's proactive strategy of safeguarding its designs for prospective usage in the future or market expansion.

Expected Price and Competition

With the current Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports priced between Rs 16.02 Lakh to Rs 17.56 lakh (ex-showroom, Haryana), the introduction of the updated model may entail a price increase. Upon its launch, the refreshed Africa Twin will vie against other premium adventure motorcycles in the Indian market.

The updated Honda Africa Twin portfolio demonstrates the company's steadfast dedication to producing cutting-edge, performance-focused motorcycles. The Africa Twin which promises Indian riders an exciting and competent riding experience, is expected to establish itself as a serious challenger in the adventure bike sector thanks to its improved engines, redesigned looks, and intelligent features.
