Fiat's Multijet Diesel Engine
Maruti Suzuki is developing its own 1.5 liter diesel motor to use in all future products. Indian automobile industry believes that only two to three products are successful when a total of ten products are launched in India. Sharing platforms and engines could help them not just save time and effort but even a lot of investment on new products. Tata Motors has even signed MOU with Volkswagen that can result in future sharing of platforms and engines among the two noticeable car brands of India.

Tata Motors is revising its entire lineup to get rid of slow sellers and aged products. The introduction of Tiago and Tigor was a successful operation while Hexa is currently struggling to find some reasonable amount of buyers. Maruti, on the other hand, launches new products that are even not as capable as the ones from the Tata side but still manages to post much higher numbers due to its widespread network. Fiat is currently focusing more on its engine department as their products could not even match the sales of luxury car manufacturers.
