TVS Motor Company is reportedly working on an electric version of its popular XL moped. The new model will be based on the existing XL 100, but it will feature a number of changes to accommodate the electric powertrain. The upcoming TVS electric moped is under development and is expected to be launched in India in the coming years.

The patent image of the upcoming electric XL moped shows that it will retain the simple build of its petrol counterpart. But the frame, round headlight, tubular grab-rail, split seat, and structure will be slightly different. The electric XL moped will also feature a centrally mounted battery pack and a belt drive system.

The braking hardware will consist of a front and rear drum brake mounted on spoke wheels. The electric XL moped is expected to be powered by a 4.3 bhp electric motor. It will also have a payload capacity of 130kg.

It comes with a new, 4-stroke engine and may get the option of an electric starter in the future. The chances of tubeless tyres is still very low as they are actually required by many customers of TVS XL 100.

The moped was 2-stroke in its last version and now comes with a 4-stroke engine producing 4.14 BHP and 6.3 Nm of torque. Most of the things remains the same while the mileage claimed this time if 67 kmpl. It uses a 4 liter fuel tank and claims a 60 kmph of top speed. It comes with a price tag of INR 29,728.
