BYD Seal Achieves 500 Bookings After Its Introduction

BYD has launched the Seal electric sedan in India, offering it in three distinct variants: Dynamic Range, Premium Range, and Performance. This premium electric sedan is the third EV from BYD in India, following the e6 MPV and the Atto 3 SUV.

Feature Highlights and Safety Measures

The Seal is packed with features for comfort and convenience, including a 15.6-inch rotational touchscreen infotainment display, a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, ventilated and heated front seats, an 8-way powered driver's seat with memory function, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic glass roof, and a Dynaudio sound 12-speaker sound system.

For safety, the Seal is equipped with 9 airbags, a 360-degree camera, and a full suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) including adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, and auto emergency braking.

Battery Options and Performance

The BYD Seal offers two battery pack options: a 61.44 kWh battery pack and an 82.56 kWh battery pack. The Dynamic Range variant with the 61.44 kWh battery pack is rear-wheel drive (RWD), has 204 PS power, 310 Nm torque, and a claimed range of 510 km. It is compatible with a 7 kW AC charger and a 110 kW DC fast charger. The Premium Range variant with the 82.56 kWh battery pack is also RWD, has 313 PS power, 360 Nm torque, and a claimed range of 650 km. The Performance variant with the 82.56 kWh battery pack is all-wheel drive (AWD), has 530 PS power, 670 Nm torque, and a claimed range of 580 km. Both the Premium Range and Performance variants are compatible with a 7 kW AC charger and a 150 kW DC fast charger.

The top-spec AWD Performance variant offers the most impressive performance in its price range making the Seal a compelling option for those seeking power and efficiency.

Pricing and Competition

Priced between Rs 41 lakh and Rs 53 lakh (ex-showroom pan India), the BYD Seal competes with the likes of the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, and Volvo C40 Recharge. It also presents itself as an affordable alternative to the BMW i4 making it an attractive option for those looking to enter the premium electric sedan segment.

Market Reception

Launched in the first week of March, the BYD Seal has already made a significant impact, with 500 reservations within just 15 days of its launch. A growing interest in electric vehicles and BYD's expanding presence in the Indian EV industry are indicated by this robust market response.
