BYD Atto 3: A Stylish Upgrade with Enhanced Features

BYD has introduced a mid-lifecycle update for its successful Atto 3 electric SUV in international markets bringing in new paint options and an upgraded infotainment system. Despite these cosmetic changes the Atto 3 retains its original mechanical configuration. Notably, the Atto 3 has been a bestseller for BYD in several regions including India highlighting its popularity among consumers.

Exterior and Interior Updates

The exterior of the Atto 3 sees minimal changes, with the addition of a new 'Cosmos Black' exterior color option. Furthermore, the chrome window surrounds and D-pillar trim now comes in black enhancing the SUV's sporty appeal. The alloy wheels have been subtly redesigned, and the branding on the boot lid now simply reads BYD, aligning with the company's branding strategy.

Moving inside, the most significant update is the introduction of a larger 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, replacing the previous 12.3-inch unit. This new system borrowed from the Seal EV offers more features and a more intuitive user interface. Additionally, the interior now boasts a new black-blue color scheme replacing the previous beige-blue combination giving the cabin a more modern and sophisticated look.

Technological Advancements

In addition to the upgraded infotainment system, the Atto 3 now features an 'intelligent start' system. With this new technique, starting the car with just a push of the accelerator pedal adds convenience to the driving experience.

Powertrain and Performance

Mechanically, the Atto 3 remains unchanged, retaining its front-axle mounted electric motor that produces 201 horsepower and 310 Newton-meters of torque. This powertrain enables the Atto 3 to accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 7.3 seconds making it a capable performer in its segment. The SUV is equipped with a 60.48-kilowatt-hour blade battery, providing an ARAI-certified range of 521 kilometers. Charging the battery using a 7-kilowatt Type 2 AC charger takes approximately 10 hours, while an 80-kilowatt fast charger can charge the battery from 0 to 80 percent in about 50 minutes.
