Audi Launches India’s First 450kW Fast Charging Station

Audi India has taken a significant stride in bolstering its electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure with the inauguration of a cutting-edge 450kW fast charging station at Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) and this collaborative effort between Audi India and Charge Zone is geared towards providing rapid charging solutions for electric vehicles showcasing the brand's commitment to sustainable mobility. The charging station is equipped with a high-powered gun capable of delivering up to 360kW/500amps to EVs ensuring swift and efficient charging.

Apart from its advanced charging capabilities, the BKC charging station stands out for its vast array of facilities. It can accommodate numerous vehicles at once thanks to its five charging hubs, and clients can enjoy all-day lounge access which improves the whole charging experience. In a move to encourage the adoption of electric mobility, Audi is offering free e-charging services for Audi e-tron customers until March 2024, making EV ownership more accessible.

The station's incorporation of solar roof panels which use solar energy to supply peripheral electrical requirements is a noteworthy feature. This environmentally friendly strategy is consistent with Audi's dedication to environmental stewardship. The station's efficiency is underscored by the claim that the Audi Q8 55 e-Tron, equipped with a 114kWh battery, can achieve a substantial charge from 20 percent to 80 percent in just 26 minutes at this high-speed charging facility. Importantly, the station is open to electric vehicles from all brands promoting inclusivity within the growing EV ecosystem.

The national expansion of EV charging infrastructure is a larger goal of Audi India which includes this program. With over 140 chargers already installed across 73 cities, including strategic locations at dealerships and highways, the Mumbai fast charging station represents Audi's inaugural foray into high-speed charging. A strong and easily accessible EV charging network will be developed throughout India thanks to the company's ambitious ambitions to build more of these fast-charging stations in significant cities.
