Apple iPhone Production Suspended in India: The Indian government has announced a nationwide lockdown for 21 days in the country to prevent the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19). During the lockdown period, which is till April 14th, only medical facilities and select grocery stores are allowed to open across the nation. This has resulted in 'work from home' for most of the employees across the country. Due to the lockdown, many companies have started temporarily halting their operations and most of the upcoming events have also been postponed.

Apple suppliers Foxconn and Wistron have temporarily halted their production facility in India until at least 14th April. Bloomberg recently reported that these brands have taken this step to comply with the government orders. Foxconn and Wistron are the manufacturing partners for Apple and they mainly produce the iPhone XR and iPhone SE. The iPhone XR is in the production at the Foxconn facility since October 2019. Since they are also the manufacturing partners for other companies like Xiaomi, this shutdown will surely affect the production of Redmi and Mi smartphones as well.

Many other companies are also ceasing their operations in the Indian market due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Recently Samsung has also shut down its biggest manufacturing factory in India, which is situated in Noida to stop the spread of Coronavirus. LG and Vivo are also shutting down their factories in the country to support the government. The popular e-commerce website Flipkart has announced that they are also putting a hold to their operations in their supply chain. Amazon India recently also reported that they will only deliver items of critical importance.
