5 Quick Facts About the Upcoming TVS Cruiser Motorcycle

1) First TVS Cruiser Motorcycle - TVS is known for the production of commuter bikes and sportbikes, leaving the cruiser segment empty from the past three decades. The Zeppelin 220 is a typical cruiser motorcycle as it features low seat height, forward-biased foot-pegs, and smaller-than-usual rim size. The cruiser rivals none other than the Bajaj Avenger 220 and Suzuki Intruder 150 while Jawa Classic 300, Honda CB350 Highness and the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 are other indirect rivals for the upcoming motorcycle.

2) New Age Design - The extended fuel tank, sharp tail section, and the raised pillion seat add modern lines to the package. The engine bay is neat, perfectly filled and highlighted with silver inserts. TVS showcased the concept version of the bike with a belt-drive system, making it the first motorcycle of its segment to carry the feature. The headlight is heavily inspired by a typical modern street machine.

3) Key Components & Engine Details - The 220cc TVS Zeppelin is equipped with premium 41mm USD front forks, full-LED headlight, belt-drive, and grippy Pirelli Sport Demon tyres. The addition of a sporty exhaust system finished in black shade, and the independent tyre hugger makes Zeppelin an eye-candy for the bike lovers though, the production model is expected to skip some of the premium parts to keep the costs under check.

The Zeppelin is expected to be equipped with a BS6-compliant, 220cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine. The same can either be derived from Apache RTR 200’s engine or made from scratch for torque-biased performance.  Mechanically, the concept model is good for 20 HP @ 8500 rpm and 18.5 Nm @ 7000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The unique electric-boost system of Zeppelin can help riders achieve more mileage per refill though, the system is not yet confirmed for the production version of the motorcycle.
