5 All-New Maruti Suzuki SUVs Are Coming to India - Report

Maruti Suzuki has recently confirmed that it is currently working on a slew of new SUVs to add to its current portfolio in the country. The company will introduce 5 new SUVs in the coming 3 years and some of them will be produced through the company’s collaboration with Toyota.

There will be a three-row SUV currently codenamed Y17, which is likely to be built on the platform which supports Ertiga. This forthcoming SUV might replace the XL6 and sit above the other SUVs in the company’s lineup.

The second-gen Brezza will be the first SUV to launch with the name Brezza only, instead of Vitara Brezza. The new Brezza is likely to enter the Indian market later this month. This updated model is expected to draw power from the 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine. Aside from the aesthetic alterations, the forthcoming Brezza will also get new features like a larger infotainment system, sunroof, wireless charging system, paddle shifters in automatic variants and more.

Maruti Suzuki also actively working on a new model to rival the Hyundai Creta. This new model is codenamed YFG and it will be built on Toyota’s DNGA platform and is anticipated to be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine. While talking about the other upcoming SUVs, the compact SUV codenamed YTB is next on the list. It will be based on the company’s Heartect platform and might be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine.

Furthermore, the next SUV on the horizon is the 5-door Jimny, which is going to rival the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha. It is expected to use the same powertrain as its compact sibling but will gain in weight by up to 100 kg more than the 3-door Jimny. It needs to be mentioned here that the brand is already exporting India-made Jimnys to the global markets.
