2024 Update: Rivalry Intensifies for the Triumph Scrambler 400X

Get ready for a clash of titans in the scrambler motorcycle realm as Fantic unveils the updated Caballero 500 for 2024, intensifying the competition against the iconic Triumph Scrambler 400X. While India has witnessed a growing interest in sub-500cc scrambler-style bikes, the international arena is set for a showdown between these two formidable machines. Other than these updates, the Triumph Scrambler 400X rival also receives revisions to its single-cylinder engine with a new mapping for improved throttle response. It also gets a new aluminum swingarm and is lighter by 2kg. Now, the Fantic Caballero 500 weighs in at 165kg with a full-tank of 12-litres which still makes it lighter than most scramblers of its segment. The Triumph Scrambler 400X is just one of three scrambler-style motorcycles sold in India in the sub-500cc category. The others are the Royal Enfield Scram 411 and the Yezdi Scrambler. However, the international markets have a stronger competition in the scrambler segment, one of which is the Fantic Caballero 500 that has been updated for 2024.

Powering the Triumph Scrambler 400X is a 398.15cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that makes 40bhp and 38Nm. The engine is linked to a six-speed gearbox and benefits from a slipper clutch. The Scrambler 400X also gets ride-by-wire, traction control, and dual-channel ABS. During the BikeWale fuel efficiency test, the bike returned 27.2kmpl. It was ridden in mixed traffic conditions in the city as well as the highway. If you pair the aforementioned number with the Scrambler 400X’s 13-litre fuel tank capacity, then the expected range is around 360km. But it could also vary as per your riding style and the traffic conditions.

What are the colour options available for the Triumph Scrambler 400X?

Triumph offers the Scrambler 400X in three different paint schemes – Matt Khaki Green with Fusion White, Carnival Red with Phantom Black, and Phantom Black with Silver Ice. All these are dual-tone paint schemes.

What are the variants, prices, and rivals of the Triumph Scrambler 400X?

Triumph offers the Scrambler 400X in a single variant and its asking price is set at Rs. 2,62,996 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It rivals the Yezdi Scrambler, Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and the Scram 411.

While Fantic is yet to reveal pricing for the market its sells in, the motorcycle will not make its way to India anytime in the future.
