2024 Hyundai Alcazar Facelift: A Refreshed Contender in the SUV Arena

The Hyundai Alcazar has been a strong contender in the midsize SUV segment since its introduction in April 2021. As the 3-row version of the Creta, the Alcazar has carved a niche for itself in the market. With the Creta facelift already launched, the Alcazar is next in line for an update, with its facelift expected to debut by June 2024. Spied ahead of its launch, the 2024 Hyundai Alcazar Facelift is set to sport a refreshed look and feel, incorporating several features from the new Creta.

Design and Aesthetic Updates

The 2024 Hyundai Alcazar Facelift, currently undergoing testing, is expected to share overall styling cues with the new Creta. However, it will boast a distinctive profile, particularly across the front fascia and rear. Anticipated updates include new headlamps and DRLs, a refreshed front bumper and grille, new alloy wheels, and a unique design for the tail lamps. The facelift may also introduce new exterior color shades to enhance its appeal.

Inside, the Alcazar facelift is likely to inherit changes seen in the new Creta, including dual 10.25-inch seamlessly integrated infotainment and digital instrument screens. Features such as dual-zone climate control and ventilated seats are expected to be retained. A comprehensive range of ADAS features is also anticipated to enhance safety and convenience.

The cabin space and seating configuration, available in 6-seat and 7-seat versions, are expected to remain unchanged. The Alcazar already boasts features like a panoramic sunroof, USB chargers for all three rows, 3rd row AC vents with speed control, smartphone wireless chargers for the 1st and 2nd rows, a Bose premium sound system, an 8-way power-adjustable driver seat, and an air purifier with AQI display. The facelift could introduce new upholstery and interior theme options to refresh the cabin's ambiance.

Powertrain Options and Performance

The engine options for the Alcazar facelift will remain the same as the current model. The 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, which replaced the 2.0-litre NA petrol engine in 2023, generates 160 PS of max power and 253 Nm of peak torque, with transmission choices of a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT. The second engine option is a 1.5-litre diesel that produces 116 PS and 250 Nm, available with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options. These powertrain options ensure a balance between performance and efficiency, catering to diverse driving preferences.

Market Position and Rivals

The Hyundai Alcazar facelift is expected to boost sales, similar to the new Creta, which registered 51k bookings in one month. The Alcazar competes with rivals such as the Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, and Mahindra XUV700. In January 2024, the Alcazar ranked 5th in the list of bestselling midsize SUVs, ahead of the MG Hector Plus but trailing the Tata Safari and XUV700. With the updates, the 2024 Alcazar facelift is likely to see a minor price hike. The current model is available in the price range of Rs 16.77 lakh to Rs 21.28 lakh (ex-showroom).

The 2024 Hyundai Alcazar facelift is poised to make a significant impact in the midsize SUV segment with its refreshed design, updated features, and efficient powertrain options. As Hyundai prepares for its launch, the Alcazar facelift is set to strengthen its position as a strong contender in the competitive SUV market, offering a compelling blend of style, comfort, and performance.
