2024 Force Gurkha Adds 7-Seat Option and Spotted with Larger Touchscreen

Force Motors is gearing up to expand its lineup with the launch of the 2024 Force Gurkha in a 7-seat variant. This new addition is expected to heat up the competition in the lifestyle off-road SUV segment, currently dominated by the likes of Mahindra Thar and the Maruti Suzuki Jimny.

Competition and Market Dynamics

The upcoming 5-Door Gurkha aims to launch ahead of Mahindra's Thar Armada, set for release on August 15, 2024. Historically, Mahindra led with the launch of its 3-Door models, but Force Motors is looking to gain an edge with its 5-Door versions, potentially hitting the market first.

Infotainment and Specifications

Although the test mule’s dashboard was camouflaged, there are hints of a larger touchscreen infotainment system, which would be an upgrade from the current aftermarket units provided by Force. The vehicle spotted was equipped with CEAT Crossdrive A/T tyres on 18-inch wheels suggesting robust off-road capabilities.

Potential for a 9-Seater Variant

Given Force Motors' history with versatile seating configurations in commercial vehicles, there's speculation that a 9-seater version of the Gurkha could also be in the works. This would further diversify the Gurkha's offerings catering to even larger families or commercial transport needs.

Engine and Performance

All variants of the Gurkha, including the upcoming models, are powered by a 2.6-liter FM CR diesel engine, delivering approximately 95 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Standard features are likely to include a 4X4 transfer case and mechanically locking differentials at both the front and rear, ensuring the Gurkha’s capability in extreme off-road conditions.

With the introduction of the 7-seat variant and potential for a 9-seat configuration, the 2024 Force Gurkha is poised to make a significant impact in the competitive off-road SUV market in India. The blend of practicality, performance and advanced features makes it a promising contender against established models like the Thar and Jimny.
