Citroen is set to enhance its lineup with several facelifts aimed at incorporating more premium features As part of this initiative, Citroen is enhancing its most accessible model, the C3 Hatchback, by incorporating higher-end features previously seen in the C3 Aircross.
2024 Citroen C3 Hatchback Updates
Citroen recently unveiled the Basalt Vision Concept which offers a glimpse into the future of more premium offerings from the brand. Many of these advanced features are expected to be integrated into the C3 Aircross and some will make their way into the C3 Hatchback. In anticipation of this, Citroen has already begun to equip the C3 Hatchback with several upgrades, particularly in the top-spec Shine trim. These enhancements are borrowed from the outgoing C3 Aircross, maintaining a sense of continuity and improvement without increasing the price—a welcome decision for consumers.
Enhanced Features in the Shine Trim
The Shine trim of the C3 Hatchback now boasts a leather-wrapped steering wheel and elegant piano black decor surrounding the steering controls. Additionally, new multifunction controls have been added to the left side of the steering wheel, mirroring those found in the C3 Aircross. These controls interface with a digital TFT instrument cluster also derived from the C3 Aircross, enhancing the hatchback's technological appeal and sophistication. The most significant addition to the C3 with this update is the tachometer, a standard yet essential component for modern cars.
Additional Luxury and Tech Features
The top-spec Shine trim is further augmented with stylish alloy wheels, rear washers and wipers, rear defogger, fog lights, and full power windows. A large 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and offers 35 connected features accessible via a dedicated smartphone app.
Desirable But Missing Amenities
Despite these enhancements, there are still several features that would significantly improve the C3 Hatchback, including an auto-dimming rearview mirror, automatic climate control, a cooled glovebox, cruise control, LED exterior lighting, front and rear armrests, adjustable headrests for all seats, and rear AC vents.
Powertrain Options
The 2024 Citroen C3 Hatchback continues with the same engine options as before: a 1.2L 3-cylinder petrol engine available in both naturally aspirated and turbocharged forms. The naturally aspirated version produces 80 bhp and 115 Nm, coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the turbocharged variant delivers 109 bhp and 190 Nm through a 6-speed manual transmission. Notably, the 6-speed "Automatique" gearbox option remains unavailable for the C3 Hatchback.
