Honda has finally revealed the sixth generation 2023 CR-V for global markets. The SUV destined for India is expected to make its international debut this year. The new generation model appears to be nothing like its predecessor, which was also sold in India.

The fifth generation model's front chrome strip is no longer available. Though the headlights are nearly identical to the previous model, they are now sleeker and longer. LED units have been darkened for a more intimidating appearance, and they complement the all-black grille with the Honda logo in the centre. A matte black bottom cladding runs throughout the car, giving it a rugged appearance.

The interior of the 2023 model has undergone significant changes. For the first time, it features a free-standing 7 or 9-inch infotainment system (depending on variant) in line with the competition. The instrument cluster also includes a 7-inch digital display. The AC vents are housed in a mesh-like grille strip that runs across the dashboard. The free-standing display sits atop the mesh grille, with the HVAC dials below.

2023 CR-V receives Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as the Honda Sensing suite, which includes a new wide-angle camera with a 90-degree field of view, a 120-degree radar system, blind-spot monitoring, Honda's traffic jam assist with low-speed braking and sign, Honda's real-time AWD system with modes, and hill descent control.

In international markets, the CR-V will be available in four trim levels: EX and EX-L with a turbocharged 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 190 HP, Sport and Sport Touring with a 2-litre 4-cylinder hybrid powertrain producing 204 HP and 335 Nm.

The CR-V was sold in India until the BS6 standards were implemented in 2020. Honda decided not to work on the BS6 model because the SUV did not sell well. However, this will change with the introduction of the sixth-generation model.

With almost all manufacturers entering the lucrative D-segment, including Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Mahindra's upcoming Scorpio-N, and Toyota Hyryder, Honda is expected to follow suit. Honda's main selling point, like Toyota and Maruti Suzuki, would be its hybrid powertrain.
