2020 Honda City Officially Revealed; India Launch Next Year

2020 Honda City, the fifth-generation of the sedan has been recently revealed by the brand at an event in Thailand. Being awarded a different design language than that of its present-gen variant, the updated Honda City appears to be slightly longer while features a more mature design. One can expect the sedan to make entry into the Indian market by mid-2020. Coming to the front fascia, the 2020 Honda City has been adorned with a Honda Civic-inspired thick chrome grille at the front, which is further mated to wider headlights with LED DRLs. The front bumper of the mid-size sedan is now more elegant and looks rather simpler when compared to the 4th gen variant. The prominent detailing flowing all the way from the front door to the tail lamps adds to the sedan’s overall unique look. The brand has further equipped the updated Honda City with machine-cut alloy wheels that offers a much sharper look than the ongoing version. The overall neat design language is extended to the rear of the sedan which features wraparound LED tail-lights. The rear bumper of the 2020 Honda City has also been adorned with the reflectors at each side placed in a vertical position. Coming to the interior of the sedan, 100mm additional length further offers more cabin space while the overall interior now looks more classy and premium. The brand has equipped the updated sedan with cruise control and infotainment controls mounted on the 3-spoke steering wheel. The elegantly-designed dashboard now features an 8.0-inch touchscreen unit while the AC vents have been positioned vertically. The use of ambient lighting further offers the interior a luxurious look while the redesigned seats add to its superiority. The 2020 Honda City measures 100mm more in length and is 53mm wider than the ongoing version though the height of the sedan has been reduced by 28mm. The brand is offering the updated Honda City in Thailand in four trims namely: S, V, SV, and RS, which can be availed in multiple petrol and diesel engine options. The brand has also offered the sedan with an all-new 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine that is good for 122HP of power 173Nm of torque while claiming a fuel efficiency of 23.8kmpl. The engine has been mated to CVT automatic transmission with paddle-shifters. The 2020 Honda City will also feature a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine borrowed from the all-new Honda Jazz. In India, one can expect the brand to offer the sedan with a 1.5-litre diesel engine as well. Expected to be launched in India next year, the updated sedan will compete in the market with the likes of Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, and Skoda Rapid.
