2020 Honda CBR650R Officially Revealed; India Launch Soon

The India-bound 2020 Honda CBR650R has been officially unveiled by the brand in Brazil. The updated motorcycle is expected to go on sale in the Indian market from mid-2020. In addition to this, the bookings for the BS6-compliant model of the bike will commence from April this year. Since the motorcycle got a big upgrade back in 2018, there hasn’t been any major design updates offered to the sports machine though one can certainly distinguish the 2020 model from the last-gen version through some minor tweaks. The 2020 Honda CBR650R now features all-black body panels including the engine casing. In addition to this, the alloy wheels on the updated unit don’t feature the stripes visible on the last-gen variant. In addition to the Grand Prix Red and Gunpowder Black Metallic colour schemes, the updated bike will also be available in an all-new Purplish-Grey shade with orange highlights. The updated BS6-compliant motorcycle features the same all-LED headlight and taillight setup inspired by the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade in addition to getting the similar LCD instrument console. Powering the 2020 Honda CBR650R is the same 649cc, inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled 16-valve, DOHC engine. The Brazilian-spec model is good for offering maximum power of 88.4HP @ 11,500 rpm and a peak torque of 60.1Nm @ 8,000 rpm. In comparison, the power and torque figures of the India-spec BS4-compliant model stand at 87.1HP @ 11,500 rpm and 60.1Nm @ 8,000 rpm. The engine remains mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The braking power continues to be handled by dual disc brakes at the front and a single disc at the rear mated to a dual-channel ABS unit with Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) as standard. The 2020 Honda CBR650R continues to feature SHOWA inverted telescopic forks at the front while the rear continues to feature a monoshock absorber. There hasn’t been any information revealed on the updated price tag of the motorcycle though considering only minimal changes, one can expect the brand to offer it a minor increase in price when compared to the BS4 version which is presently available at INR 7.70 lakh (ex-showroom India).
