2018 Toyota RAV4 SUV Officially Revealed

The Japanese Automaker, Toyota has debuted a new fifth-generation RAV4 SUV at the New York International Auto Show 2018. The new generation model exhibits much wider proportions, revised detailing and a more efficient engine. It will be available in one 2.5-litre four-cylinder hybrid variant and one 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol variant and compete in the market with Mazda CX-5, Jeep Compass, and Hyundai Creta. It is based on the Toyota New Global Architecture(TNGA). The new RAV4 SUV will parade a bold styling with a slightly larger wheelbase to accommodate a much wider cabin space that arrays a floating touchscreen display and 4600mm has been added to the length too. It gets an aggressive demeanor look with a new grille, a floating roof-line, new LED headlamps and tail lamps, rear skid plates and a rather drastic leap in terms of ride clearance. On the front, it exhibits rather strong muscular lines and the two-tone color options does justice to the aggressive stance. It is equipped with a torque-vectoring system that split the torque accordingly amidst the rear wheels. Toyota is getting its game rather ahead in terms of safety by implementing radar cruise control, lane and direction assist to provide hands-on driver assistance, emergency braking, a new rear view mirror display and auto high beam. Toyota's Entune 3.0 audio system has been implemented in the floating touchscreen infotainment system that is compatible with Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, and navigation. The pricing and other specification for the new RAV4 SUV have yet to be revealed. As of now, Toyota has no plans to launch RAV4 in the Indian market but they might consider it in near future as demand for premium compact SUVs is increasing by each passing day. If Toyota plans to launch the new RAV4 in India, they will manufacture the SUV in India itself to price the car aggressively.

Toyota RAV4 is not an India bound model. The basic reason behind the fact is that Toyota already has Fortuner in its big car lining and its success has made them bring the new facelift for the big car. The RAV4 on the other hand, is a petrol powered car, returning very low fuel economy, which definitely will lead to poor sales and thus a problem to the company. It is powered by a 2231 cc petrol engine, returning only 6 kmpl. Also, if planned, the car will be priced above INR 17,00,000 which does not make any sense into the company lineup.
