The Mitsubishi Pajero, a stalwart in the off-road SUV segment, saw its production come to an end in 2021. This decision was part of Mitsubishis strategy to focus more on other models like the Outlander and to concentrate on ASEAN markets. The Pajeros demise marked the end of an era for a vehicle known for its ruggedness and off-road capabilities. I think this move was inevitable given the shifting market trends towards more road-biased SUVs.

In 2015, the Mitsubishi Pajero underwent a significant facelift, which included redesigning the bodyshell to increase its stiffness and adding LED daytime running lamps. This update also saw the rationalization of the model range, with a focus on high-level trims like the GLS and GLS Exceed. These changes aimed to keep the Pajero competitive in a market increasingly dominated by crossovers. I believe these updates helped extend the Pajeros lifespan but couldnt halt its eventual decline.

The 2007 Mitsubishi Pajero was known for its robust engine options, including a 3.8-liter petrol V6 and a 3.2-liter 4-cylinder turbodiesel Di-D. The diesel engine, in particular, received an output bump in 2010, delivering 140 kW and 441 Nm of torque. This made the Pajero a favorite among those seeking a balance between on-road comfort and off-road capability. I think the diesel variant was a highlight of the Pajeros offerings during this period.

One of the notable features of the 2007 Mitsubishi Pajero was its Super Select II all-wheel drive/4WD system, which remained one of the best in its class. This system, combined with the vehicles body-on-frame construction, made the Pajero a reliable choice for heavy-duty off-road driving. The systems versatility and performance were key factors in the Pajeros enduring popularity.
