About
The Isuzu Ascender Diesel is a mid-size SUV that offers a unique combination of space, comfort, and power. Built on a full-frame truck chassis, it provides a smooth and comfortable ride, making it ideal for family road trips. The vehicle features a robust diesel engine, which, although noisy, delivers ample power and a respectable towing capacity of up to 7,200 lbs. The interior is spacious, with ample seating for seven and a cargo area that can expand to 100 cubic feet with the seats folded down. However, it lacks rear AC vents and has a limited service network in India, which could be a deterrent for some buyers. Despite these limitations, the Ascender remains a solid choice for those seeking a powerful, comfortable, and feature-rich SUV.

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Isuzu Ascender Diesel, while offering some compelling features, falls short in several key areas that are crucial for the Indian market. The build quality, though improved in some aspects, still raises doubts, and the limited sales and service outlets can be a significant concern for potential buyers. The absence of rear AC vents is a notable omission, especially in Indias climate. However, the vehicles spacious interior, comfortable ride, and robust towing capability are definite positives. The diesel engine, though noisy, provides the necessary power for both city and highway driving. Overall, its a mixed bag while it has its strengths, the drawbacks might deter some buyers.
Price
In India, the Isuzu Ascender Diesel is positioned as a mid-to-premium segment SUV. The ex-showroom price typically starts around 35-40 lakhs, depending on the trim and features. Once you factor in the on-road costs, including taxes, registration, and insurance, the price can escalate to around 42-50 lakhs. This pricing is competitive with other mid-size SUVs in the market but may seem steep given the limited service network and some of the vehicles shortcomings. However, for those who value the unique blend of space, power, and towing capability, the Ascender might still be a viable option.
Latest Updates
Monday, 12 January 2009 03:51 PM
Isuzu announced it would stop selling its passenger vehicles, including the Ascender SUV, in the U.S. market effective January 12, 2009. This decision was due to declining sales and a lack of strong brand presence. I think this move was inevitable given the competitive landscape.

Despite ending passenger vehicle sales, Isuzu will continue to support its commercial truck and diesel engine business in the U.S. This includes providing parts and service for existing vehicles. I believe this is a smart move to maintain customer loyalty.
Mileage
Friday, 22 November 2024 11:39 AM
The mileage of the Isuzu Ascender Diesel in India is a critical factor for many buyers. With a diesel engine, you can expect an average fuel efficiency of around 10-12 kml in city driving and up to 15 kml on highways. While these figures are not exceptional, they are reasonable given the vehicles size and power output. For those concerned about running costs, the Ascenders mileage is manageable, especially if you plan to use it for a mix of city and highway driving.

Isuzu Ascender Diesel Discussion
I wonder if this car will be sold under Chevrolet badge or Isuzu. For the looks and styling of this car, the price of 9 lacs seems unbelievable. Since the Tavera aka Isuzu Panther is above 8 lacs. This car can give all top SUV a run for their money if launched at this price. Guys please keep me posted if you hear of the launch dates and prices.
Looks aggressive and strong.
