Hyundai has been spotted testing the Creta EV and Kia Carens EV together, with the Creta EV confirmed for a January 2025 launch. The Creta EV will feature EV-specific elements like a closed-off front grille, updated illumination units, and newly designed alloy wheels. Inside, it will have a new gear lever, an updated central console, and a three-spoke steering wheel. I think these updates will make the Creta EV a strong contender in the Indian EV market.

Hyundai plans to launch the Creta EV in January 2025, which will be the first electric car from the brand in India. The Creta EV is expected to use a 45 kWh battery, giving it a range of around 450 km and a power output of 138 bhp and 255 Nm of torque. This positioning could make it a viable option for buyers looking for a balance between range, performance, and affordability, with a price expected around Rs 20-25 lakh. I believe this pricing strategy will help Hyundai gain significant market share.

Hyundai is expanding its SUV lineup in India with the upcoming launch of the Creta EV, aiming to boost annual output to 1 million units by 2030. The company also plans to launch four other EV models in the Indian market by 2030. Additionally, Hyundai will build 485 EV charging stations across India by 2030. I think this aggressive expansion will help Hyundai compete more effectively against Maruti Suzuki.

The Hyundai Creta EV has been undergoing rigorous testing and is set to be showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo in January 2025. The EV will retain the overall shape of its ICE counterpart but will feature EV-specific design tweaks like a front-mounted charging port and newly designed aero alloy wheels. Inside, it will borrow high-tech features from Hyundai’s other EVs, such as the Ioniq 5. I believe these design and tech updates will make the Creta EV very appealing to Indian buyers.

Hyundai has committed Rs 20,000 crore for EV development in India over the next eight years and plans to make India one of its primary EV manufacturing hubs. The company acquired General Motors’ Talegaon-based facility in Maharashtra to support this goal. Initial production targets include around 26,000 units for the Creta EV. I think this investment will significantly boost Indias EV ecosystem.
