Ford EcoSport Trend+ (Diesel)

About
The Ford EcoSport Trend Diesel is a well-rounded compact SUV that excels in several key areas. Powered by a 1.5L TDCI engine, it produces 100 BHP and 215 Nm of torque, making it adept at handling both city traffic and highway cruising. The vehicle features a solid build quality, which adds to its durability and feel-good factor. The interior is well-appointed with features like a comfortable seating arrangement, ample storage spaces, and a user-friendly infotainment system. The steering is light and responsive, and the handling is impressive despite its tall boy design. The EcoSport also boasts good NVH levels, ensuring a quiet and comfortable cabin experience. While the rear legroom and boot space are not the most generous, the overall package makes the EcoSport Trend Diesel a strong contender in its segment. Its compact dimensions and easy maneuverability in urban settings further enhance its appeal as a practical and enjoyable vehicle to own.

USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Ford EcoSport Trend Diesel is a compelling choice for those seeking a versatile and robust compact SUV. My experience with this vehicle has been overwhelmingly positive, particularly in terms of its drivability and comfort. The 1.5L TDCI engine delivers ample torque and linear power delivery, making it a joy to drive in both city traffic and on highways. The steering is light and responsive, especially in urban conditions, and it weighs up well on the highway, providing adequate feedback. Although the suspension is a bit stiff, it doesnt compromise the overall ride quality significantly. The cabin is quiet, with minimal engine noise and excellent NVH levels. However, the rear legroom is somewhat limited, and the boot space, while manageable, is not the largest in its class. Overall, the EcoSport Trend Diesel offers a great balance of performance, comfort, and practicality.
Price
In India, the Ford EcoSport Trend Diesel typically falls within a competitive price bracket. The ex-showroom price for this variant usually ranges between 9.5 lakh to 10.5 lakh, depending on the location and any additional features or accessories. On-road prices, including taxes, registration, and insurance, can range from 11.5 lakh to 13 lakh. This pricing makes the EcoSport Trend Diesel a value-for-money proposition, especially considering the robust build quality, feature-rich interior, and the performance of the 1.5L diesel engine. The Titanium variant, which is just a step above, offers additional features like a sunroof, projector headlamps, and leather-wrapped steering, but at an additional cost of around 65,000 ex-showroom.
Latest Updates
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 04:08 PM The Ford EcoSport Trend+ (Diesel) is expected to feature the new EcoBlue 1.5-litre diesel engine, which offers 100PS or 125PS, providing better performance and fuel efficiency compared to its predecessor. This update should make the vehicle more appealing to Indian buyers who prioritize both power and economy. I think this engine upgrade will be a significant selling point.
Friday, 25 October 2024 06:27 PM Ford has addressed some of the interior comfort issues in the EcoSport Trend+ (Diesel) with updates such as manually adjustable lumbar support for the driver and improved dashboard layout, although the design still lacks the flair of some competitors. The addition of soft-touch plastics on the top half of the dashboard enhances the overall feel of the cabin.
Monday, 30 September 2024 12:07 PM The Ford EcoSport Trend+ (Diesel) continues to face criticism for its side-hinged boot door, which can be a hassle in tight parking spaces. However, the boot does come with an adjustable floor, which is a handy feature for managing luggage. This design choice remains a notable drawback for urban drivers.
Tuesday, 20 August 2024 04:01 PM In terms of driving dynamics, the Ford EcoSport Trend+ (Diesel) is praised for its nimbleness in corners and heavy steering that provides good feedback. However, the ride quality remains a concern, especially at low speeds, where it can feel too stiff and wallowy. I believe this could be a deal-breaker for some potential buyers.
Monday, 15 July 2024 10:56 PM Ford has hinted at potential hybrid variants for the EcoSport in the future, but for the Indian market, the focus is likely to remain on the 1.5-litre diesel engine due to cost and market preferences. A hybrid version would significantly increase the price, making it less competitive in the Indian market.
Tuesday, 11 June 2024 12:49 AM The Ford EcoSport Trend+ (Diesel) is expected to retain its chunky SUV styling, which has been a selling point for the model. The Sporty ST-Line trim, with its 17 paint colors and four contrasting roof shades, adds to the vehicles appeal. However, the overall design is starting to look a bit dated compared to newer models.
Saturday, 25 May 2024 01:07 PM The rear seats of the Ford EcoSport Trend+ (Diesel) lack amenities such as cupholders and have only small door bins, which can be inconvenient for passengers. However, the inclusion of two 12V power sockets in the rear is a useful feature for charging devices.
Saturday, 20 April 2024 06:09 AM Ford has improved the steering adjustability in the EcoSport Trend+ (Diesel) since the 2018 update, making it easier for drivers of all heights to find a comfortable driving position. This change has significantly enhanced the driving experience.
Friday, 15 March 2024 01:39 PM The Ford EcoSport Trend+ (Diesel) is known for its fuel economy, with the 125PS 1.5-litre EcoBlue diesel engine claimed to return around 53.3mpg, although real-world figures might be slightly lower. This makes it a good option for those looking to save on fuel costs.
Saturday, 10 February 2024 11:11 AM Despite its improvements, the Ford EcoSport Trend+ (Diesel) still faces stiff competition in the small SUV market, particularly from models like the Dacia Duster and Suzuki Jimny, which offer better off-road capabilities and more practical boot designs. I think Ford needs to address these areas to stay competitive.
Mileage
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 02:09 PM When it comes to mileage, the Ford EcoSport Trend Diesel is quite frugal. Based on user reviews and my own experience, the city mileage averages around 16-17 kmpl with full AC, while highway mileage can reach up to 20-21 kmpl. These figures are impressive, especially considering the vehicles performance and comfort levels. This makes the EcoSport Trend Diesel an attractive option for those concerned about running costs and fuel efficiency.

I personally like my car from the core of my heart. I bought it from Chandigarh after a long waiting period of 10 months, yeah after the launch, waiting period was too long. I fall in for this SUV the day it got announced so long waiting period never changed my mind. It is indeed a very attractive car with sharp edged headlamps, hexagonal chromed grill and 16-inch alloy wheels. My friends and family was also amazed to see it. The most amazing feature of this SUV is its emergency assistance. Coming to the interior, it has cushioned seats and driver's seat supports four-way adjustment. Overall, the interior is luxurious and comfortable. I have done many long tours on it in a comfy manner. Heading to boot space, it has 346 litres capacity which is less than duster but it is sufficient for huge storage. In my journey to Kashmir the boot space felt less as the luggage for five friends didn't fit the boot. We stuffed the boot to extent that it refused to open. That was the only issue I faced with EcoSport.

A Fully Loaded Compact SUV

The build quality is really good. Doors are heavy and need effort to shut. The interior quality is acceptable but in comparison to fiesta some plastics are compromised on their quality. They appear to be more shiny in this SUV. The seats are comfortable and you can easily long tours without any hassle. EcoSport, with the stunning as well as futuristic design is surely a head turner. The company has done no compromise with the quality and comfort factor in the SUV. Even in the base model you will get everything which you desire in your dream car. Braking is quick and clutch is super smooth. Gear box is easy to handle with short shifts, the knob is a little big but that is something which we can live with. The 1.0-litre three-cylinder, direct-injection turbo EcoBoost really does deserve the title of International Engine of the Year.

Pros: Build quality, smooth engine, low maintenance, attractive design, comfortable, fuel efficient, value for money
