Fiat has announced that the current Fiat Panda will no longer be sold in the UK, marking the end of a 44-year era. The model will be replaced by the Grande Panda in 2025, which will come with hybrid and all-electric powertrains. The Grande Panda will be larger and more expensive than its predecessor. Despite this, the Panda will continue to be sold in other European markets until at least 2027 under the name Fiat Pandina special series.

Fiat will launch a family of new Panda models, including a city car, a fastback, and a boxy SUV, each to be introduced annually until 2027. These models will be based on other Stellantis models to keep costs low. This strategy aims to revitalize the Panda brand with fresh designs and technologies.

The Fiat Panda has a quirky history, including a suggestion that the rear seat could be tilted to create a hammock or even used as a cot, though this idea was never implemented. This reflects the innovative and sometimes unconventional thinking behind the Pandas design.

Fiat has introduced the 2024 versions of the Panda and the new Pandina, featuring enhanced driver assistance systems, a 1.0 L mild hybrid engine, and updated interiors. The Panda and Pandina come equipped with autonomous emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, and a fully digital instrument cluster. Prices start at €14,900 for the Panda and €17,900 for the Pandina. I think these updates make the Panda a more competitive option in the city car segment.

Fiat has simplified the Panda range for 2024, offering only two models: the Panda City and the Pandina. Both models come with advanced driver assistance systems, a digital dashboard, and new safety features. The starting price has increased to €15,900, but it includes many features previously available only in optional packs.

The Fiat Pandina stands out with its unique cross-look design, featuring specific bumpers, wheel arch trims, and roof rails. It also includes LED daytime running lights, LED tail lights, and newly designed seats made from recycled Seaqual material. I think the Pandinas design gives it a distinctive edge in the market.
Saturday, 15 June 2024 04:38 PM
Fiat has unveiled the new Grande Panda, which will be available with both hybrid and electric powertrains. The Grande Panda is built on the Stellantis Smart Car platform and features a robust and clearly structured design with Italian styling elements. It will be launched in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, and is designed for global markets. I believe the Grande Pandas design is a great blend of modern and classic elements.

The Fiat Panda was almost discontinued due to a poor EuroNCAP crash test score in 2018, where it received zero stars. However, Fiat upgraded the active safety systems to meet legal requirements, and the model continued to sell well despite the initial setback. This resilience is a testament to the Pandas popularity.

Fiat had initially considered renaming the second-generation Panda to Gingo when it was launched in 2003, but the name was dropped due to a dispute with Renault over its similarity to the Twingo. The Panda name was eventually retained after some legal issues. I think retaining the Panda name was a wise decision given its brand recognition.

The original Fiat Panda was named to pay homage to the Roman goddess Empanda, patron of travelers, rather than the bear. However, the World Wildlife Fund objected to the name due to its logo featuring a panda, leading to a donation to the charity to resolve the issue.
Wednesday, 19 February 2025 06:08 AM
The 2025 Fiat Grande Panda has been unveiled, featuring a new design that pays homage to the original 1980 Panda with its boxy outline, flat surfaces, and practical plastic protection. The car is larger than its predecessors, nearly 4 meters long, and will be available in petrol and electric versions. I think the retro vibe combined with modern tech will make it a hit in the Indian market.
Saturday, 15 February 2025 07:09 AM
Fiat has announced that the Grande Panda will be offered with mild hybrid and electric power options, aligning with the global trend towards more sustainable vehicles. The mild hybrid version is expected to be popular, featuring a 99bhp 1.2-litre petrol engine and a small electric motor. This could be a game-changer in Indias growing eco-friendly car segment.

The design of the 2025 Fiat Grande Panda has been revealed to be the work of Francois Leboine, Fiats design chief who previously worked at Renaults advanced design team. The cars design includes embossed Fiat logos and monograms, adding a touch of brand identity. I believe this attention to detail will appeal to brand loyalists in India.
Saturday, 25 January 2025 02:14 AM
Fiat has confirmed that the Grande Panda will not replace the current Panda model immediately, especially in markets like Italy where the old Panda is still popular. Instead, it will coexist as a larger, supermini-sized option. This strategy might help Fiat cater to a broader range of customers in India as well.
Wednesday, 15 January 2025 02:35 AM
There is speculation that the 2025 Fiat Grande Panda could be priced competitively in the Indian market to attract more buyers. Given its practical design and eco-friendly options, it could be a strong contender in the supermini segment. I think the pricing will be crucial in determining its success in India.

Fiat has hinted at future plans to replace the current Panda model in a few years, but for now, the Grande Panda will serve as a larger, more modern alternative. This move suggests Fiat is preparing to refresh its lineup to keep up with market demands, which could benefit Indian consumers looking for newer models.

The Grande Pandas interior features a shelf-like dash and practical design elements, similar to the original Panda. This focus on practicality is expected to appeal to Indian buyers who value functionality in their vehicles. I believe this design approach will make the car very user-friendly.
Friday, 15 November 2024 07:56 PM
Fiats decision to offer the Grande Panda with both petrol and electric options is seen as a strategic move to cater to different market preferences. In India, where there is a growing interest in electric vehicles, this could make the Grande Panda an attractive option for those looking to transition to more sustainable transport.
Friday, 25 October 2024 08:53 AM
The 2025 Fiat Grande Panda is expected to compete with other superminis like the Skoda Kamiq and VW T-Cross, as well as fully electric models such as the Dacia Spring and MG ZS EV. Its unique design and eco-friendly options might give it an edge in the competitive Indian market.
Friday, 20 September 2024 01:57 AM
Fiat has emphasized the importance of brand identity in the design of the Grande Panda, with the car featuring embossed logos and monograms throughout. This branding strategy could help reinforce Fiats presence in the Indian market and attract loyal customers.

What is the launch date of Fiat Panda in India?
28 December 2022 13:12
Fiat India has no launch plans for its 4x4 crossover, Panda in India. Fiat has been focusing on the upper segment of the car riders and basic criteria for the time has been performance. It has launched the 595 recently, with more Abarth models like Punto Abarth and Linea Abarth on the line. The second point of focus has been made on the Jeep brand, which Fiat will promote strongly and make it into the luxury SUV market of India. The Panda comes with a 1248 cc, Multijet diesel engine, being used in nearly dozens of cars in India. It was expected with a price tag of INR 6,50,000 and would have been a value for money product for Fiat India.
