In 30,000 miles I have replaced my fuel pump twice. It’s not a deal breaker, especially considering how great the bike is otherwise, but annoying.

It's more common in the earlier models. There seem to be fewer problems in later years.

It’s a design flaw, and I’m not talking about a physical design flaw, but a design flaw in the plan for the game itself. They should have issued a recall, but they did not. It's an otherwise awesome bike, but it's the biggest drawback.

I think it's overstated. It does happen, but other bikes have issues as well. A vocal bunch of just 990 owners, that’s all.

It's not the fuel pump; it's the fuel filter. If you clean it regularly, you will avoid most of the problems.

I'd go for the RE. It has more tuning potential and should have a bigger engine.

Overall the Triumph has better components. Suspension and brakes are a step up.

It all depends on what you want. The Triumph feels more like a styled road bike and the RE feels more like a proper scrambler.

The long term maintenance of the RE will be cheaper. It’s easier to get parts and service.

Just for the brand prestige I'd choose the Triumph. It's a conversation starter.

The second is more practical in daily use. It has a bigger fuel tank and is most likely more fuel efficient.
