You can definitely fit 4 adults on a long road trip in my Tiago (it’s not luxurious, but it’s doable). What’s important is to take breaks and stretch. Long drives are actually quite comfortable in the front seats.

I like the large windows one thing about the Tiago. It makes the cabin feel bigger than it is and only helps with visibility. While it is a small thing, it really does make a big difference in the overall feeling of roominess.

I've had my Tiago over 2 years and it's been rock solid. It was a regular maintenance job: No real issues at all. A lot of the negative reviews I think that are online are from people that got a lemon or went to a particular service center and had a bad experience.

What I've seen is hit or miss. Tiago, my cousin's, has been in the shop several times for electrical gremlins. I know others who have had no problem, but then I do. Maruti or Hyundai’s QC still seems inconsistent to Tata.

The newer models have definitely improved the reliability. Tata has worked out a lot of the kinks with early Tiagos. Just make sure you are buying a recent production model, not old stock.

I think the unreliability claims are overblown. Of course Tata isn’t perfect, but the Tiago is much better built than their older cars. It's not thin air that gives the 4 star safety rating. Sometimes people just love to hate on Indian brands.

It’s all about managing expectations. Obviously, the Tiago is a budget car, and you can’t expect Toyota level reliability. At the price, it's not bad. Expect the occasional niggle and don't expect Maruti level service all over.

Absolutely! My friend had a nasty accident with his Tiago and got away with just minor injuries. It did its job protecting the occupants, but the car was totaled. Those 4 stars are not just for show.

The safety rating is great, but defensive driving is still the best protection. Reckless driving of a 4 star car will still be more dangerous than a 2 star car driven safely. It’s not a force field, but the Tiago gives you a good foundation.

I have my doubts over how much of this will hold true in real Indian conditions. I wonder if our roads are so chaotic that the controlled crash tests don't actually simulate what happens in a real accident here. While the Tiago might be safer than some, it’s not invincible.

It’s definitely a high safety rating, but I worry about long term durability. If your safe car is constantly in the shop for other issues, what good is it? In short I'd rather a car that is slightly less highly rated but one I can rely on day in and day out.

Tata Tiago has a long list of differences between it's base and the topmost variant. The base variant of Tiago (XB) comes without air conditioner whereas XE and XM skips the music player. They even come without reverse parking sensors and day/night IRVM. The XT variant comes loaded with these features while adding more like body colored equipment to the package. These 3 variants are offered with optional dual airbags, except the XB variant. The XZ variant comes with ABS, EBD, CSC, cooled glove box and many more advanced features for a pleasant riding experience.

Tata Tiago has been launched with a starting price tag of INR 3.20 lakh. The prices for the Tiago are introductory and may change in the near future. The topmost diesel variant costs INR 5.54 lakh and includes features like ABS with EBD and CSC, dual front airbags, ConnectNext infotainment system with 8 speakers, reverse parking system, cooled glove box, rear defogger, wiper & washer, day/night IRVM and power windows.
