Having driven the Harrier and the MG Hector on long trips, I’d say the Harrier has an edge in terms of stability at high speeds. And it just feels more planted on the highway.

The Harrier’s cruise control is a godsend in the great expanse of long drives. It’s very smooth, and you don’t get fatigued as quickly. But I wish it had adaptive cruise control like that of some of its competitors.

The Harrier is great on road trips, with one thing I love about it being the massive boot space. I don’t have to worry about space constraints because I can pack everything I need. That's a real advantage over smaller SUVs.

It could be better at noise insulation. Wind noise is noticeable at high speeds, and on long journeys can get tiring. It’s not a deal breaker, but something Tata could do better.

The high ground clearance and good visibility (even a dark colored Harrier) have served me well in navigating nasty flooded roads during monsoon. When in adverse conditions it feels very stable.

I believe Tata overhypes the safety aspect a bit. It is a safe car, yes, but so are many in this segment. Factoring in the lack of NCAP rating for the Indian model, objectivity here is difficult.

I feel very secure with my kids in the Harrier as a parent. They rely on the ISOFIX child seat anchors, which are easy to use and the rear doors feel strong. That’s one of the reasons I chose this over other SUVs.

The thick A pillars are a one safety concern I have, which create a blind spot. It was a bit of a learning curve, and I still struggle a bit in some traffic situations.
Which SUVs in its class does the Tata Harrier Dark Edition have an infotainment system similar to?
26 December 2024 12:08
My Harrier Dark Edition’s infotainment system is decent but nothing mind blowing. While it's responsive enough for you to use it day in, day out, you will hit the odd stutter sometimes, particularly when used with Android Auto.

The Harrier’s system does feel slightly dated, compared to my friend’s Hyundai Creta. It is not as slick interface and the screen resolution is not as good. But it gets the job done.

In fact, the Harrier's infotainment is one I actually prefer over some of the more complicated systems out there. While driving, it's easy enough to use and straightforward, which is what matters most to me.

What I really like is the 360 degree view of the camera. It’s really good for parking and getting around in tight spaces. This is not something that many cars in this segment give you.
So is the ADAS system on the Tata Harrier actually useful in Indian driving conditions?
24 December 2024 12:34
And I have used the Harrier’s ADAS on highways and it works surprisingly well. In moderate traffic, the adaptive cruise control works great and the lane keep assist is useful on well to mark roads. It's a good start for Indian conditions, not perfect by any means.
