Will the TVS Jupiter CNG's storage limitations be a deal breaker for the prospective buyers?
The biggest complaint about the TVS Jupiter CNG is that it has a reduced storage capacity because of the CNG tank. Partly because they're practical and can carry groceries, bags and other items, scooters are popular in India. A major drawback for many users will be the Jupiter CNG's underseat storage, which is much smaller than its petrol counterpart. This has led to debates as to whether fuel cost savings and environmental benefits trump the loss of convenience. Some say the dual fuel option circumvents this, others say that it’s a fundamental flaw in the design. It also discusses how this might affect different user groups from daily commuters to delivery personnel.
I mean I think people overestimate how much they actually carry on their scooters, but it’s definitely a concern. The reduced storage won't be a big deal for most daily commutes.
Deal-breaker for me. For grocery runs and weekend trips I use my scooter. It's just not worth the CNG benefits to lose that much storage space.
It should've been designed with a side mounted CNG tank so as to save more underseat storage. TVS missed the opportunity there!
I’m actually interested because I’m a delivery guy. But fuel savings could make up for the extra storage, and we normally use top boxes.
It's all about priorities. If you care more about the environment and the fuel costs you will adapt to the storage limitations.
I think that will depend on the lifestyle of the individual. It's fine for students or office workers who just want to carry a bag. For some, it might be a problem.
As an accessory, they should be offering some sort of expandable storage solution. It could persuade those who are unsure about the storage problem.
