Will the traditional Royal Enfield fans be alienated by the Shotgun 350’s more aggressive styling?
Over time, Royal Enfield has managed to build a cult following for its classic, vintage inspired designs. Shotgun 350 is a departure from the company’s traditional look, with bobber styling, mini ape hangers, and more modern aesthetic touches. Brand identity has come into question and so has customer loyalty. While some enthusiasts welcome the fresh approach, as being necessary to attract younger riders, others have dismissed it as a gimmick that will fail. Some say moving away from the classic styling will dilute the brand’s heritage appeal. The discourse sometimes extends to other issues such as the equilibrium between tradition and innovation in motorcycle production, or the transition in motorcycle consumer in demographics, and if brands should hold to what they're recognized for or take to new meshes.
Nah Nah, RE is big enough now to cater to different tastes. The classics aren't going anywhere.
Old school RE fans will grumble, but it’s going to bring in a whole new crowd.
It's not that radical. Somehow I still have that RE DNA, just with a bit more attitude.
It will be hated by some folks, but that happens with any new bike. Can't please everyone.
It's a smart move. You gotta keep things fresh or else you’ll get left behind.
Any well made bike is true RE fan. It’s not about the looks, it’s about the riding.
It might be a gateway drug for younger riders to get into the more classic REs later.
But as long as it rides like an Enfield, and has been built well, the diehards will come around.
