Will the Kia Syros's distinctive design stand the test of time or become unfashionable fast?

There is much to discuss about Kia Syros's distinctive, boxy design. It is seen by some as refreshingly different and practical, by others as unappealing. But it does raise questions about how well the design will age over time. Sometimes cars with unconventional design can become iconic, like the Skoda Yeti, sometimes they can look dated very quickly. The Syros is clearly a function oriented design, a boxy shape in order to maximize interior space. But in a market where sporty, sleek designs are common, especially in the compact SUV segment, the Syros is a standout. But there's doubt as to whether its looks will grow on people over time, or if it will forever be seen as an oddity. It is especially important for those who are thinking about keeping the car for many years.

I think it'll age well. There’s something about a boxy design that seems to make it a classic. Look at the Suzuki Jimny or the old Land Rover Defender. Form over function often doesn't make it past the history books.

It already looks outdated, there is no way. In a few years it will be a sore thumb next to sleeker designs. This is a big, big risk for Kia.

I hope that it becomes a cult classic. Cars that are practical tend to be followed by a devoted following. Fan appeal could make it the next Skoda Yeti.

I think it'll age okay but not great. Some of the details will probably look dated pretty quickly, but the overall shape will probably hold up. To keep it fresh, Kia might have to feed it frequent updates.

It's going to be polarizing for a while. Some people will always call it ugly, some will love it for being different. It's not a bad thing, at least not boring!

I have a feeling that it will grow on people. Can you remember how odd the Kia Soul looked when it was first released? It now has a strong following. The Syros could take the same route.

It will probably age better than we will. With EVs becoming more common, and boxy designs more acceptable for its efficiency, the Syros might be ahead of its time.
