Will riders appreciate the 200,000+ ride modes the Flying Flea S6 offers, or will they be inundated with choices?
The Vehicle Control Unit in the Flying Flea S6 will have more than 200,000 ride mode combinations, according to Royal Enfield. It’s an unprecedented amount of choice for an electric bike in the motorcycle world. It promises unprecedented customization, but does so at the cost of usability and practicality. Riders are keen to debate whether all these options will make the riding experience better or if it will lead to decision paralysis and overcomplexity. However, there are worries that the learning curve to get these options working may deter techie and traditional bike riders alike. Moreover, the effect of these many settings on battery life, performance, and overall reliability is being considered. The feature could become a new standard for motorcycle customization, but whether it can be practically applied and be of value to the average rider is hotly debated.
200,000 combinations? That's insane! If I was just going to stick with a couple or three that I like. Cool to have options though.
Sounds like a gimmick to me. Who needs that many choices? I need a sport mode, and an eco mode, and I'm good.
As a tech geek, I'm stoked! What if every aspect of the bike could be fine tuned? It feels like dyno tuning on demand.
But I can see it being useful for riders sharing the same bike. Everyone can save their perfect setup.
And if they have presets for rain, highway, city, etc, and let you tweak from there, it'll be great. Otherwise, it could be too much.
Reliability is on my mind. The more complex something is, the more there are things that can go wrong.
If the bike is constantly adjusting settings it could be a battery drain. I hope they've thought that through.
