Why don't the Ioniq 6’s doors auto lock?
The one of the most frequently mentioned quirks of the Ioniq 6 is that it doesn't automatically lock its doors when you walk away from the vehicle. This is a standard feature on many modern cars, and especially in the premium segment. This absence of such a convenient feature started a conversation about user experience, safety and Hyundai's design language. Owners are frustrated to have to manually lock their car each time, while others say it’s no big deal. Is this a big oversight, or minor annoyance? Is HM going to fix this with software update, or are there reasons to omit this feature intentionally?
Honestly my biggest gripe about the car. In 2024, how did they miss such a basic feature?
I don't mind it. I'm just one of those people who like to lock their car manually anyway, just gives me peace of mind.
It's annoying, but not that bad. I would hope Hyundai would add it in a future update.
I think it's a safety issue. But what happens if you forget to lock it in a sketchy area? This should be in every modern car.
It's not that big of a deal. When you walk out press the button on the door handle. Takes half a second.
I miss auto lock from a car more than I thought I would coming from a car with it. It’s the little conveniences that count.
In fact, I like it this way. Sometimes auto lock features will lock you out if you aren't careful.
