Potential buyers and owners of the KTM Duke 125 are interested in the long-term reliability of this motorcycle. Expectations of quality and durability are expected from a premium small-displacement motorcycle. While KTM’s reputation for high-performance machines sometimes raises questions about how much maintenance they really need and if they will have issues down the road. Riders talk about what problems they might encounter, how much (and how often) they need to service it, and how it stands up to different usage patterns, from daily commuting to weekend fun rides. It's also interesting to see how it stacks up reliability-wise against Japanese competitors in the same class. Now, let’s take a look at how the Duke 125 has held up in the real world and in the long term and high mileages.

Mine has 20,000 miles on it with no major problems. And the key is regular maintenance—stick to the service schedule, and it’ll treat you well.

The engine is bulletproof, but I’ve had some electrical gremlins. It’s nothing major, just annoying stuff like the dash flickering every now and then.

It does require more frequent servicing than my friend's Yamaha. When it's running right, it feels more premium.

Parts and labor are expensive if something goes wrong, but I’ve found it to be pretty reliable. It's not the cheapest to repair, like a Honda.

My 3 years of daily commuting have been solid. It’s just keeping an eye on chain tension and not skimping on oil changes.

Build quality is great, but I’ve heard some fuel pump problems with the earlier models. KTM seems to have sorted it out, though.

I baby it, but it has been reliable for me. I think if you thrash it constantly, you might have more problems than with a more conservative bike.

It's good for long-term reliability, but not the 'neglect it and it'll run forever' kind of bike. It takes proper care and maintenance to reward.
