What’s going on with the Aprilia STX 150 fuel system problems?
by Sukhmandeep Kaurover 1 year ago0 views9 comments
The Aprilia STX 150 has been experiencing some fuel system issues, says the motorcycle community. Some owners have experienced everything from inconsistent fuel flow to the bike dying while riding. There seems to be a higher than average occurrence of these problems in certain model years, which has caused people to talk about bad design or maintenance requirements. DIY fixes are out there for some riders, but others have had to take it to the pros. Many have been left wondering just how long the STX 150 will be reliable, and if Aprilia have sorted these issues out with newer models.

Mine I fixed by installing an aftermarket fuel filter. A cheap solution to a potentially expensive problem.

The fuel issues are blown out of proportion. Mine has 20,000 km on it and no problems. Its all about how you keep it.

It's hit or miss. There are some bikes that appear to be problem free, and some others that are in the shop every other month.

Apparently, the newer models have better fuel systems. If you have trouble all the time, it might be worth upgrading.

It’s real, but it’s a manageable problem. Mine has run smoothly with regular maintenance and a fuel stabilizer.

It is a manufacturing defect, I think. The fuel pump in my 2014 model never worked right until I had it replaced.

People make it out to be worse than it is. If you just keep the tank full and use good quality fuel, you’ll be fine.

This bike has definitely got to be the Achilles' heel of the fuel system. I've had to clean the carb twice in a year.

I have had STX for two years and never had any fuel issues. Perhaps it's just a vocal minority having trouble?
