What will the Thar.e's price point do for its market position?

by Ashutoshover 1 year ago0 views7 comments
One such hot topic among Automotive enthusiasts and potential buyers is the pricing strategy for the Mahindra Thar.e. The exact price hasn't been announced but there's speculation on where it will be in the market. Others say Mahindra needs to price it competitively if it is to lure buyers who might otherwise go for traditional ICE SUVs. However there are those others who believe that the advanced technology and performance capabilities are worth paying more for. There is also debate around whether Mahindra does need different variants at different prices for a larger audience. Not only for Thar.e's success, but for the wider adoption of electric vehicles in India, particularly in the SUV segment, pricing is seen as key.

The price has to equal the total cost of ownership. So, if you are going to run it long term, a higher upfront cost might be okay if it's cheaper to run.

But I am concerned that it will be too costly for most Indians. To really take off here, EVs have to be accessible.

It has to be better value than ICE alternatives, whatever the price.

There should be multiple variants from Mahindra. One for the masses and one for enthusiasts.

To have a chance in the global market, they need to undercut Tesla prices. Being affordable is key.

I think they should go premium. Think of it as a high end EV that can compete with the international brands.

It could be a game changer, if they price it right. If it's too expensive, though, it'll just be another rich person's toy.
