What is the KTM 890 Adventure like when ridden two-up with a passenger and luggage?

Though many adventure bikes are intended for solo riding, being able to easily carry a passenger and some luggage is key for those who enjoy two-up touring or want to share their adventures with a mate. While the KTM 890 Adventure's compact build and off-road focus make it a question mark as a two-up tourer. How does that change the bike's suspension, power delivery, and overall stability when it is fully loaded with a passenger and luggage? When riding two-up on the smaller 890 Adventure, are there any particular challenges or limitations to be aware of, compared to larger adventure bikes?

In fact, I like the 890 two-up more than my old 1090 Adventure. With that weight, it feels more nimble and easier to maneuver.

The bike has more than enough power for two up, but the passenger could have better wind protection. You might want to look into a taller screen.

The 890 is a great compromise, I find. Small enough to be a blast solo, but not so small that it isn’t capable of passenger duty when needed. Just pack light!

All of this is managing expectations. If you are used to a Gold Wing, you will be disappointed. With a passenger, however, it does just fine compared to other middleweight ADV bikes.

It struggles a bit on the stock suspension when fully loaded. If you are going to be doing a lot of two-up riding, I would upgrade the rear shock.

We love touring on our 890. It’s not as plush as a big 1200cc bike, but it’s more than capable and much more fun on twisty roads.

It's doable, but not ideal. With a passenger and full luggage, the bike feels a bit overwhelmed. Short trips are fine, but I would need something bigger for extended two-up touring.

I've done a couple of weekend trips two up on my 890, and it goes surprisingly well. All that is needed is to adjust the preload, and it works fine.
