What impact will the AFEELA 1’s AI assistant have on the driving experience in India?

by @ashutosh.kumarover 1 year ago0 views7 answers
The AFEELA 1 has a smart AI assistant designed in partnership with SoundHound. The purpose of this voice enabled system is to provide a conversational interface to a number of vehicle functions and infotainment features. In this light, an AI assistant with such capabilities can serve beneficial in Indian roads and driving condition with some of its own challenges. It may have to adjust for various accents, language, and local traffic regulations. It would have been able to assist the system in giving real time navigation assistance , traffic updates and even understand road signs in regional languages. But privacy, data collection and the reliability of AI in making crucial driving decisions in India's often chaotic traffic also remain a worry.

The real question is, can it argue with auto rickshaw drivers about the fare? If not, what's the point?

I think new drivers will find it great. It’s like having an experienced uncle guiding you through the chaos of Indian roads, only without the backseat driving!

If it can’t handle our accents and languages, it’ll be useless. It's DOA unless it's fluent in Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, and a dozen other languages.

You all forget about the safety aspect. An AI that can ‘understand and predict’ Indian traffic patterns could be a lifesaver, literally.

I'm worried about privacy. How much will this AI learn about our driving habits and conversations? And where does that data go?

It’s literally a glorified Google Maps with a voice. Meh. Already most Indians use their phones for navigation. This is solving a problem that doesn't exist.

It's gonna be a game-changer! Think of a smart co pilot that knows your local lingo and all the shortcuts. Goodbye to being lost in a city you don't know!
