What does the FZ09’s stock suspension feel like for daily riding and some spirited runs?
Suspension on the FZ-09 has been a hot topic among owners and enthusiasts for the first few years of its existence. The bike's powerful engine and nimble handling is much praised by many riders, but its soft, undersprung suspension setup is much criticized. As a result, we’ve seen some debate about whether the stock suspension is sufficient for daily commuting and weekend fun rides, or if immediate upgrades are needed. Others say the stock setup works fine for casual riding, but can be a problem when cornering aggressively or on track days. Some continue to argue that the suspension's flaws are unbearable even for daily usage. Aftermarket options are often the topic of conversation, the cost benefit of upgrading and how suspension mods can take the character of the bike to a different place. Riders have shared their stories with both stock and upgraded setups and how the suspension performs in different riding conditions.
Cruising around town, the stock suspension is fine, but it just doesn’t hold up to the faster stuff in the twisties. If you like to ride hard, it definitely needs an upgrade.
