What can the single-seat design of the KTM RC 8C do for the track performance?
What separates the KTM RC 8C from many other track-focused motorcycles is its distinctive single-seat configuration. This design choice has generated some debate about how it affects the bike's performance, aerodynamics, and just how it rides. In some cases, riders have argued that the single-seat layout, which means the saddle is closer to the steering head, makes for a more compact, and therefore more aerodynamic, package than a traditional layout and therefore has the potential to offer the best top speed and cornering stability. Some wonder if it alters weight balance or if getting rid of a seat passenger can restrict the rider in moving around on the bike. Much of the debate is also centered around how this design affects the bike’s center of gravity, wind protection for the rider, and even psychological factors—how it ‘feels’ like you are connected to the machine. People often compare it to MotoGP bikes, as they have single-seat designs, and how that equates to a track day or amateur racing.
It’s an awesome single-seat design. It's a proper GP bike to ride. Certainly helps with the track day mindset.
