What are the most common issues FZ V3 owners have after 3-4 years of ownership?

But as Yamaha FZ V3 ages, owners begin to face different problems that are not visible in newer bikes. In this topic we look at the common issues that pop up after a few years of use, and discuss the bike's long term reliability and maintenance requirements. Talk of wear and tear items such as chain and sprockets, electrical gremlins, and possible engine related problems is common. Some riders report excellent longevity with no recurring issues, while others tell tales of recurring issues. As often as not, the conversation revolves around how the bike's reliability can change over time based on riding habits, maintenance routines and factors of the environment. It's not clear how these typical problems compare to those of other bikes in the segment, or whether they are to be expected on a relatively affordable package that is supposedly aimed at imparting riding joy to absolute beginners.

Adjusting the clutch cable seems to happen more often on this bike than on other bikes I've had. Not a big problem but annoying.

If you park it a lot in the sun they don't age well with the paint and plastics. Buy a good cover or garage space.

Over time the fuel injection gets a little finicky. It’s nothing major, but it can use a little attention every now and then to keep it running smoothly.

Boredom is the biggest problem. After 3–4 years, you’ll be wanting something with more power.

After a few years, the suspension begins to feel a little tired if you're a little on the heavier side. It makes a world of difference.

In 4 years of ownership I've had zero problems. If you follow the service manual it will treat you right.

The chain and sprocket wear appears to be faster on the FZ V3 than other bikes I’ve owned. It's not a huge deal, but something to budget for.

After a few years, the electrical system starts acting up. The rectifier has had to be replaced and I have had problems with the instrument cluster.

The biggest issue I’ve had honestly is just normal wear and tear. It'll run forever if you change the oil regularly.
