The Mahindra Electric XUV300 has been a long time coming, but is it worth the wait over the ICE variant?
The Electric XUV300 has been teased by Mahindra for a while now, and promises impressive range and performance. With the constant delays and the ICE version already available, a lot of potential buyers are torn. On paper, the electric version should have a range of over 400 km and the ability to fast charge. But the ICE XUV300 has already shown its worth in the compact SUV segment. The recent facelift has fixed some of its interior issues and it's got that punchy 1.5L diesel engine which enthusiasts adore. There’s also the issue of charging infrastructure and the long term reliability of EVs in India. On the other hand, electric means lower running costs and future proofing. The choice is hard though, especially if you have been longing to buy the XUV300.
I would tell you to wait for the electric version. Mahindra’s been doing well with their recent EVs, and the XUV300 electric could be a game changer. And you’ll be future proofing your purchase.
Nah, go for the now. How long do I have to wait for something that keeps getting delayed? You know what you're getting with the current XUV300, it's a solid car. India is still a bit of a gamble for EVs.
It depends on your usage. If you’re mainly driving in town and have access to charging, the electric version might be amazing. The ICE version is still more practical for long highway trips, though.
I'm torn on this. With promising electric XUV300, Mahindra's past record with electronics isn't great. Do you remember the early XUV500 issues? I'd watch out to not be an early adopter.
Why not consider both? Now get the ICE version and trade up to electric when the tech is more mature and charging infrastructure has improved.
