Should new riders consider the Hunter 350, or are there better options in the market?

India's entry-level motorcycle segment is ruthless, with a huge number of options for new riders. Royal Enfield's attempt to take a bite out of this market, the Hunter 350, has generated a lot of discussion about whether or not it's suitable for beginners. Others say it's lighter weight and modern features make it the perfect entry point for those that are drawn to the RE brand. Yet others say other manufacturers have better, cheaper and easier riding bikes. It frequently shades into factors like ease of maintenance, operating costs, resale value and a new rider’s learning curve for various types of bikes. It also brings up issues of brand loyalty, the drawing power of classic styling versus modern design, and the value of after sales support to new riders. This is a topic that often sparks discussion of the best way for new enthusiasts to get into the business of motorcycling and whether the Hunter 350 is a good middle ground of accessibility and aspirational value.

I began on a Hunter, and I have no regrets. It’s easy to handle, but has enough power to keep things interesting as you learn.
