Is the Verna's DCT transmission a deal breaker?

The Hyundai Verna’s dual clutch transmission (DCT) has heated up among potential buyers and car enthusiasts. DCTs are known for their quick shifts and sporty feel, and while they have a reputation for being reliable, there are a lot of reports (especially when driving in stop-and-go traffic) of potential issues. However, in particularly Indian driving scenarios involving heavy traffic and high temperatures, some users report worries about the DCT’s longevity. Many other people are praising the performance and fuel efficiency of the DCT. Many are asking if the potential risks, as well as maintenance costs, are worth the benefits of the DCT. It's also prompted debate about Hyundai's choice to employ a dry DCT, rather than a wet DCT, which is usually seen as more robust but less efficient. The controversy has been so great that some buyers considering a purchase have also looked at other transmission options or competing models.

It’s not a deal breaker, but it’s definitely something to think about carefully. Do your research and see if you’re comfortable with the possible risks.

If only Hyundai had a traditional automatic option. The DCT is nice but I’d sleep better at night with a proven torque converter.

For me, the risk is worth the performance of the DCT. A CVT is boring, but it makes the car so much more fun to drive.

For now, I have had the Verna with DCT for a year and it has been super. If you just follow the manual, don't creep in traffic, you'll be fine.

That depends on how you drive. If you spend most of your time on highways, the DCT is great. I wouldn't be worried about the wear and tear for city driving, but otherwise.

I don't think people are reacting too much. Today’s DCTs are much better than they used to be. Also, Hyundai’s warranty will take care of any major headaches.

The DCT is a deal breaker for me. I’ve heard too many horror stories about how they fail, or cost too much to repair. I would rather have a CVT or torque converter that is reliable.
