Is the TVS Jupiter CNG the eco-conscious commuter’s game changer?
by Ashutoshover 1 year ago0 views7 comments
One of the first factory fitted CNG scooters in India, the TVS Jupiter CNG has been creating a lot of buzz. Fuel costs are rising and environmental concerns are growing, so many commuters are searching for greener options. Jupiter CNG it promises lower running costs and lower emissions than petrol models. Nonetheless, its practicality, performance, and long term viability remain under debate. Others say that the extra CNG tank sacrifices storage space, while others applaud its dual fuel applicability. It's also a hot topic of discussion about the scooter's impact on India's urban mobility landscape, and its potential to reduce urban air pollution.

As a mechanic, I wonder about long term maintenance costs. CNG systems aren’t the most trouble free, and I’m not sure how it’s going to hold up after a few years of daily use.

I think it’s great for delivery services and other businesses that clock up high daily miles. They could save a lot of fuel cost.

This is a band aid solution, lets be real. Instead of dragging out our reliance on fossil fuels, we should be concentrating on improving electric vehicle tech and its infrastructure.

It's not perfect, but if you can’t afford electric scooters and want to lower your carbon footprint, it’s a good option. It’s a smart move to have dual fuel capability in areas where CNG is not readily available.

I'm skeptical. The CNG tank adds weight, and I’m concerned about safety in the event of an accident. Also, CNG filling is so much of a pain versus petrol.

I have been driving a CNG car for years and I can say that the savings are real. If TVS can hit the reliability and performance, this could be huge for budget conscious commuters.

Definitely a step in the right direction, but I’m not sure it’s a game changer yet. It's great that emissions are reduced, but there is still a big hurdle in the fact that there is so little CNG infrastructure in many areas.
